CLARE HAVEN SERVICES

Clare Haven Services, is a voluntary organisation which provides a
wide range of support services to women and children subjected to
domestic abuse. Clare Haven Services promotes the rights of women and
children to live and grow in a peaceful, non-violent home environment.

WE ARE CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITION:

YOUNG PEOPLES? SUPPORT WORKER ? FULL-TIME (**APPLY ON THE

We are looking for a qualified, committed individual who is passionate
about working with Young People, to work as part of the Children &
Young People?s Service?s team to ensure consistent care and
support for young people (**Apply on the website** to **Apply on the
website**) using the service. You will have the ability to work alone
and in team settings to provide a therapeutic environment for young
people who are subjected to domestic violence. There will be 4 strands
to this work:

* To develop an age appropriate therapeutic-centred approach.
* To develop and implement individual and group work initiatives and
helpline, in-house and in the 6 main areas of the county where we do
outreach.
* To oversee and deliver in-schools programmes.
* To advocate for young people subjected to domestic abuse directly
and indirectly to participate in, develop and roll out initiatives
within the county as they are identified in collaboration with our
stakeholder partners.

HOURS OF WORK AND REMUNERATION

The post is a one year fixed term full time post based on **Apply on
the website** hours per week. The candidate will be required to be
reliable and flexible regarding their hours of work and duties
assigned. The working hours will be determined by the need of the
service and you will be required to work in the evening or over a
weekend with an on-call element in place as the needs of the young

QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE:

* Relevant third level qualification at degree level in Youth Work
* _Experience working with young people and families._
* _Experience in needs assessment and planning activities that
meeting the agreed upon goals with young person/ Mother/ other
agencies_
* _Experience of working at an inter-agency level to advocate for
young people_

AND

* Ability to assess the support needs of young people & to signpost
to relevant agencies where appropriate
* Ability to work in a dynamic environment and to be reactive to the
needs of the young people.
* Ability to provide a supportive space.
* Ability to engage with a variety of professional and individuals
to provide a holistic & integrated response to the needs of young
people
* Be committed to work in partnership with mothers, the community
and other stakeholders
* Computer literate
* Report writing abilities

ESSENTIAL

* Enjoys working with young people and is passionate about social
justice
* Empathy, approachability and an ability to relate to young people
* 3rd level qualification in Youth Work or equivalent relevant area.
* A team worker with an ability to prioritise tasks and to work well
under pressure.
* Excellent IT skills including knowledge of record keeping and
database systems.
* Excellent group facilitation skills.
* Strong presentation skills and skilled at public speaking.
* Self-motivated with the ability to working on own as well as be a
strong team contributor.
* Full access to a car and clean full drivers licence

DESIRABLE

* Understands trauma and its impacts
* Has training in group facilitation and learning with young people
* Has previous experience of working in statutory / voluntary /
community settings.
* Strong ability to manage events.
* Proven ability to set own work plans with a progress tracking
system in line with objectives set by line manager and to enable all
young people to realise their maximum potential, by respecting their
rights and hearing their voices, while protecting and supporting them
as they transition from childhood to adulthood.
* Knowledge of Clare Haven Services.
* Knowledge of Domestic Abuse and its impacts on young people.
